Neon was first discovered by William Ramsay and Morris Travers in 1898. Ramsay had identified Helium (H) and Argon (Ar) and had said that they are the 1st and 3rd members in the Noble Gases and he was trying to find the 2nd Noble Gas. Ramsay tried to isolate a gas on 30 May 1898 but the result was krypton which was not what he was looking for. On June of the same year, Ramsay and his partner, Morris, isolated some some Argon which resulted in making faint line of violet, green, red and a very strong yellow which came to be known as Neon.
